A bit simplistic!

The ahool (named for the sound it is said to make) is an enormous bat that supposedly lives in Indonesia, specifically deep in the rainforests of Java. It is said to be covered in grey fur and have large wings, with a wingspan of 10 feet (3 metres), which is almost twice as long as the largest known bat species, the common flying fox.
It has been speculated that the ahool could just be a misidentified bird of some sorts. The Javan wood-owl seems to fit the general description of the cryptid besides its size, and its call (the sound HOOOH) is very similar to the sound the ahool is said to make.
So, what is it? An enormous bat? An owl? Or something else?
