The Citadel was ever an imposing sight, the beacon of Insomnia in which their King governed from and resided—but currently it also lay host to the Emperor of Niflheim. There had been much discussion on where he should stay—and many people voiced their concerns in having the Kingdom's sworn enemy resting under the same roof as their king.
But Regis had faith in his protectors, besides were Iedolas to try something in the heart of the city he would be a fool. Even if Regis did not believe that this meeting was under the pretense of 'peace' he would play along for now.
It had been a long day, body aching, temples pounding, hands shaking. The meetings had tired him out, even Clarus was haggard at the edges as he all but collapsed in the chair opposite his king.
Regis merely smiled tiredly, reaching for the decanter of whiskey and pouring them both a glass and the pair drank in companionable silence for a while.
“Go to bed, Clarus, I am safe within the Citadel.” Rising from his chair stiffly Regis brushed his hand across his friend's shoulder in a tired pat before he moved towards the door and out into the hall.
Glaives stood at attention—to which Regis dipped his head and the tired King shuffled down the hall towards his private study, saying in passing to one of the servants still going about their business.
“I wish to confer with Emperor Aldercapt, send for a runner to see if he is awake and if so for him to be shown to my study. He may bring his guards if he wishes, but I will have none save for the Glaives stationed outside.” With that he disappeared into the study.
