This pic is from 2017, but for #ineedatrekell it was too perfect. I’m a self-taught artist. On my very first painting, I had only a bamboo sumi brush. It was a nightmare for acrylics because it holds so much water and washed everything away if I wasn’t careful. I told myself it’s not about the tools, it’s the person holding them...and to an extent that’s true. To an extent. It took me one month to finish my first painting, and after that, I went out and bought a set of real brushes. It was like I’d bought myself a pair of wings. Working with the right tools changed everything for me - the difference was shocking. I’ve used just about every brush since then, but I love @trekell_art_supplies the most for many reasons- but most importantly: they’re one of us. They really care about their artists. I don’t think I’ve been to a single show in LA and not seen Courtney there. She goes to events, talks to artists - and listens. She’s a real person, not just a company logo. Trekell constantly reposts the works of artists on their feed, and they’re a thriving, active, supportive member of the art community working their butt off to survive competitively among giants brands. We vote with our dollars and impact our world with those choices and I chose to support them because they support us - and that really matters to me. Going through the #ineedatrekell entries we were BLOWN AWAY by how creative and hilarious everyone was. I’ve posted a tiny handful on the swipe, but there are so many more!
