imo onmyoji is getting a little better with the lore! they’ve taken to releasing long PVs for the tragic romances (shiranui and noukanshi), some characters such as yorimitsu/hiromasa/orochi get a lot of dialogue and depth thru this explore/visual novel mode, plus onikiri’s scrolls actually have the ibashu content you’re looking for (on an unrelated note a belated thanks for your belial meta you’re picking him apart and i am LIVING) sadly the scraps onmyo gives pales wrt gbf but what doesn’t tbh

honestly granblue feels pretty shallow lorewise coming from fate so i can’t imagine the world you’re living in but good to hear onmyoji is getting more serious about having a story. i can’t really afford to pick it back up gameplaywise either bc it just takes so much time to keep up but if you happen to know of youtube channels or anything that upload the good stuff I’d love to hear (because i will no doubt forget to look for anything myself läl)

no but it’s saddening i even read about even more minor “insignificant” changes like his replies to seimei going from something like “ I’m not interested in sharing me and onikiri's story ” to blankly “You don't need to know.” 

i tend to give the benefit of doubt......and i really thought i guess like everyone that it's because it was misplaced exposition? for some greater reveal later...SOME GREATER CONFRONTATION ... !

BUT THAT A HUMAN BACKSTORY IS “CONFLICTING” ? as in onikiri will just ending up being an experiment and that will make yorimitsu a “meddled with forces greater than himself and backfiring” pompous villain %)

i’ll still love but i’m side-eyeing and they better unleash something linked to yorimitsu with that person from the clan who DEFINITELY looks related to him THE PART OF THE BACKSTORY ABOUT YORIMITSU BEING A TOOL BETTER STILL STAND AT THE VERY LEAST PRETTY PLEASE  👀

YES i mean dazai could be nea's twin lmfao & he sure as hell doesn't want to live after this either + atsushi's extreme selflessness, lack of self-worth, found family & childhood trauma - allen & nea are my ultimate loves so having them almost reincarnated in bsd kinda just cemented my love;; tell me more about ur thoughts on the noah!mafia? i do see some similarities in that it's so hard to even think about the noah as 'villains' now what w. this new third faction appearing + the entire fiasco

my thoughts with noah!mafia have their roots in the one panel from ch 36 of bsd where chuuya is pouring everyone wine in celebration.  just something about that panel flipped a switch in my head that made me start thinking

the noah are, ultimately, a family.  the mafia doesn’t have such strong ties--akutagawa particularly seems to be on the outside--but so many members get their start in the mafia so very young that i think the bond grows over time.  and the way some mafia members react to dazai really reminds me of the utter betrayal of the 14th.  so character-wise and atmosphere (decaying decadence, strong ties based in love and violence), i think there are a lot of similarities.

thematically, i see it like this: the noah + the exorcists are more or less destined to do battle, but neither faction actually chooses the fight.  noah are chosen as they’re needed, and exorcists cannot deny their innocence once they meet it.  so even putting aside the new third faction, i think there’s always been an overarching third entity, which is fate/Innocence/god, that’s been the real force of conflict in dgm.

the conflict is much more human in bsd, so the allegory is much shallower haha. but in the same way, from what we’ve seen about abilities in the bsd world, people (particularly children) have very little recourse if their ability is highly specialized or violent.  yosano could never use her abilities in a real hospital. the plot itself has shown how little choice people like atsushi and kyouka have.  and then there’s the mention of this mysterious book that atsushi is somehow connected to... so, similarly to how the noah and the exorcists are forever revolving around the axis of innocence, the mafia and the agency are revolving around the axis of how to exist as ability users in the world/maybe this book.

tfw dazai was literally the only reason i started watching bsd bc i have this huge obsession with nea - & then promptly fell straight into hell - dazai & atsushi remind me so much of nea & allen both I HAVE. SO MANY FEELINGS. YELLS MORE I LOVE DGM

dazai = nea and atsushi = allen is the realest shit on the planet and im so fuckin upset

also really, really, the mafia = the noah is so thematically + atmospherically accurate and compelling im screaming.  noah dazai, chuuya, kouyou, akutagawa, even higuchi? AHHHH

the first time atsushi and akutagawa go on a mission as actual partners, not just happen to meet with separate agendas, they step on each other’s toes CONSTANTLY even though they should be more practiced at this by now.  their cover almost blown by an increasingly angry akutagawa, atsushi shoves him into an alcove and covers his mouth with his hand.  akutagawa has the weirdest boner right now.

SECONDLY: akutagawa fucking HATES beans, ok?  and like, he’s not PICKY with food, okay, he doesn’t have that luxury, but maybe he’s a little touched that atsushi always makes sure to make/buy food he knows akutagawa will actually enjoy and not just subsist off of.

ummmm….im totally making these up on the fly so this one’s a little harder, so i’m gonna use this for a little soapbox-y moment:

akutagawa and atsushi are both skinny due to malnourishment, and if we ever see them shirtless and they’re shredded i’m gonna be laffin and also kinda mad, lmao.  someone make these children box lunches and drive them to the bus stop, they’re going to be late for school.

hello! i'm planning to apply for the illustration internship at riot sometime, & having seen that you've made it - could I please ask a few questions? what is it like, working on splashes? what kind of experience do you need to get noticed, or is a good portfolio enough to land a spot? i have no art education of any kind, but I'm planning to work hard, time willing, to reach the required standard (& I have four years left so hopefully I'll stand a chance by then.) thanks so much for your time!

Hey! Your stuff’s pretty cool! Definitely keep it up. Working on splashes is pretty difficult honestly. Its fun and very rewarding, but time consuming and exhausting. Its a job I love waking up to every morning, but towards the end of a splash’s production I find myself feeling pretty drained. The early parts are my favorite parts for sure. When its about image making not problem resolution and refinement. It might just be that I prefer shorter form illustrations though!For someone with no art education though, you’re doing pretty fine! Just be open to learning as much as you can and dont use “style” as an excuse. Thats the biggest thing that hampers young artists from improving. Remember that a style is just the rules you choose to break! You’ve gotta learn and understand the rules before you can purposefully break them in your favor. For an internship, experience isnt valued as much as capability. Show that you are capable and you will get noticed. Focus on that. Spend a lot of time on that.

Also, paint from life at every moment you can! League art is stylized, sure, but it still uses the core tenants of illustration and life drawing.I highly recommend you read these three books cover to cover: Creative Illustration by Andrew Loomis, Framed Ink by Marcos Mateu and Color and Light by James Gurney. They are gold mines of information. Be an artist over a gamer. Understanding gaming culture and it’s industry is cool and important, but being good at the thing you want to do is much, much better for you in the long run. Good luck!
