I wish Netflix would be willing to host them, like Arrested Development. They'd have so many more viewers too! Because a good chunk of the audience is college aged or older and we dun have no cable TV's! Netflix all the way!
Aahhhh happy spring break! I'm so proud of you for making it :D I hope you have a fun and relaxing week, because you definitely earned it :)

The first character I first fell in love with: Sokka! Forever my favourite, from the very beginning to the very end. :DThe character I never expected to love as much as I do now: That would be Aang. I have to be honest and say I didn’t like him so much in S1, but I really grew to love him more and more. The character everyone else loves that I don’t: Hmmmm. Perhaps Jet? I don’t like him that much tbh.The character I love that everyone else hates: Mai.The character I used to love but don’t any longer: Katara. I still love her, though, just not as much as I used to.The character I would totally smooch: Zuko. Oh yeah. The character I’d want to be like: Uncle Iroh! The character I’d slap: Sozin.A pairing that I love: Tokka and Zutara.A pairing that I despise: Maiko, sorry.
Hi Julia. I hoipe you don't mind, but I kinda need some advice. Lately, I've found myself being overwhelmed and getting stressed at everything, even to the point of breaking down several times. I;m just not good at handling it and relaxing. Do you have any helpful tips or anything? I'd appreciate it!
Hello Karlie! Firstly, I’d like to give you a GIGANTIC HUG, and to let you know you’re doing great, and I’m very proud of how hard you are working toward your goals.
I know it’s extremely difficult to juggle everything, so here’s some things that have helped me relax :)
But first… a prologue on preventing unwanted stress..
1) Organize everything meticulously. The more you offload from your brain onto a piece of paper or electronic note, the calmer you’ll feel. Also, that way it prevents those 3-am-wake-ups when you suddenly remember a hw assignment you forgot about. I love to use daily planners with lots of room, and a calendar as well so I can plan out my weeks. I’m really particular about planning things really well because I hate last-minute surprises, and those are usually the ones that stress me out the most. I like to leave for events early, look at traffic maps ahead of time, and create back-up plans for everything. The more unforeseen events you can smack away, the less stress you’ll encounter.
2) Try not to procrastinate. I know it’s a tough thing to do, and I still procrastinate, but every now and then I’ll get something done right away and when I take a break on Tumblr or to go read, it just feels 100000x better. It just feels so much more awesome to spend 20 minutes on a hard assignment than 4 hours stressing over it.
3) Get help when you need it. As much as we all want to be Superman or Superwoman, we can’t :( So don’t be afraid to ask for help if you need it, be it on a homework assignment, delegating a task for a club affair, or something at home. People love to help because it lets them contribute something positive.
4) Break it down! A 5 page essay is daunting. BUT, not if you break it down into its paragraphs. Say, okay, I’m going to focus 30 minutes on gathering quotes today, and then 30 minutes tomorrow on the Intro, and so on. A lot of my stress comes from getting thrown a large project and freaking out because I can’t hold such a huuge box, when in fact it’s actually just 5 little boxes I can carry one at a time.
Ok, moving on to 10 relaxing tips…
1) MUUUUSIC. Music has this amazing ability to completely change up moods. When I feel like the world is collapsing on me, I like to pop in some relaxing Celtic tunes and snuggle up in bed or in a bubble bath. My favorite is Enya :) When I feel like the world is REALLY collapsing on me, I blast happy up-beat music and just do something, anything, to distract me, from painting my nails to cleaning my room. Also, it’s hard to focus on what’s stressing you when you’re singing out loud :)
2) Take a nap! Set your alarm for 20 - 30 minutes (anything more than that and you’ll feel like a truck hit you) and snooze. Cat-naps are not only good at revitalizing the brain, but are good for the rest of the body too. Napping was my go-to relaxation method throughout high school and college.
3) Nom some fruits! Did you know an apple can wake you up faster than coffee? Fruits are just magical lil things. Not only are they good for your body, but their bright colors can boost your mood too. Also, drink plenty of water. Staying hydrated is very important to maintaining a healthy mindset.
4) Vent. Vent on your blog. Vent through the phone to friends. Vent to your diary. Vent through all caps. Vent through poems. Vent through swimming ten laps in a pool. Just let it allllllllllllll out. All of it. It may not make your troubles disappear, but it will certainly make you feel loads better.
5) Have a good support group, be it friends, family members, or us Tumblr folk :) Let them be the people you can vent to, laugh with, and forget your problems with. Let them be your rock. Let them give you different viewpoints and game-plans. Let them remind you how great you are and how far in life your hard work will carry you. Let them share corny puns with you that make you both furious and crying with laughter.
6) Move around. Take a walk. Go for a run. Do jumping jacks in your room. Blast music and pretend you’re on Dancing with the Stars. I know you’re tired and moving around sounds absolutely painful, but when you move around your body releases endorphins, which are the feel-good chemicals. Give it a try, and see how rosy everything feels afterwards :)
7) Realize some things are just out of your control. What’s that one song? Don’t worry… be happy! Some things just are what they are. Some people just are who they are. And there’s no use stressing yourself out trying to control it. There’s always going to be a circle of things you can change—your study habits, your Tumblr layout—and some things you can’t—your teacher’s mood when grading exams, people who refuse to tag spoilers. Just breathe in.. breathe out… and shrug your shoulders because it’s okay to not have everything go the way you want.
8) Try some traditional relaxation methods. Meditation, yoga, aromatherapy (I like lighting lavender candles when I work), drinking tea, getting massages… One quick massage you can do yourself is a face massage. Here’s a good wikihow on it with pictures (you don’t need the massage oil if preferred). Doing something as simple as resting your eyes by closing them or staring at something far away is very helpful too.
9) Talk to a professional. Becoming overstressed and having breakdowns is detrimental to one’s health, so of course it’s okay to seek professional help if you prefer. They can also better tailor treatment to what works best for you.
10) Do something you love! Always make time for your hobbies, ALWAYS. Scheduling time for yourself is just as important as making sure a homework assignment is finished. Find what makes you really happy, and make time for it. And it doesn’t have to be something “productive”. What made me happy in college was taking naps, so I always made time for that!
And one more… Lighten your load. We’re only human, my friend. There’s only so much we can take—physically, emotionally, and mentally. If you think the amount of responsibilities and work you’re given is not right for you, you have every right to shed some of that. There’s no rule that says one has to take X number of AP classes in order to be a good human being. I knew my limit in high school and college, and I respected my limit. This isn’t to say you shouldn’t challenge yourself, but pay attention to the signs your body and mind are giving you to tell you that enough is enough.

Karlie, you’re going to be just okay. You’re going to come out of this a little bruised and battered maybe, but you’ll also come out with the mindset of “Hey.. if I could overcome that obstacle.. then I can do anything!”. Just take everything one step at a time; one hour at a time; one goal at a time. You’re going to be just fine. I know it :) And I’ll always be here for you if you need someone to talk to, or just to know someone is here thinking about you and cheering you on <3
