Suguru's not sure what to think right now, honestly, watching Satoru Gojo walk into his studio - his former classmate and famous pop star. Suguru was one of the few who could say he knew him before he was popular, though they were never close - their paths a bit too different to allow for that, despite attending the same music school. Indeed, it had seemed they'd gone in opposite directions once they graduated, Satoru breaking out into the pop scene as a massive hit, while Suguru played to a more underground audience, smaller but endlessly passionate. So when the man had texted him out of nowhere last week asking him if he'd teach him how to play rock music, he was more than a little taken aback. Why in the world would he seek him out for this job? Sure, Suguru was popular enough in his own scene, but there were certainly bigger stars out there, and it's not like Satoru was short on money... So why him? And why the sudden interest in an entirely different genre when he was already so successful in his own?
The questions floating around in his mind are seemingly infinite, but he's got to pull himself back to the present moment - he's got an old classmate to tutor, after all.
"Welcome in," Suguru greets with a polite smile as he enters, leaning against the wall and gesturing to the variety of instruments and the few couches and chairs around the room. "Make yourself comfortable." He's unsure of how to act, honestly - he's never really been in this position before, besides giving his underclassmen some pointers back in college... He'll just have to feel the situation out and make it up as he goes. Play it by ear, so to speak. He considers making small-talk, asking how he's been doing since college, but that's not why Satoru was here, is it? If he wanted to know that he would've just asked that - no, it's better to cut right to the chase.
"I was surprised when you reached out to me... You actually want to learn how to play rock music, huh?" He starts, tilting his head with an expression of vague amusement. "Well, like I told you over the phone, I'm no teacher, but I'll give it my best shot... But before we get started, I have to know why. It's one thing if you just want to learn the basics for some one-off collab or something, but if you're truly, genuinely interested in getting into rock, then... That changes what I'll need to teach you." After all, Suguru doesn't take music lightly - he puts his heart and soul into it. He needs to know if Satoru is going to put the same amount of effort forward and truly get into the spirit of it, or if he just... Wants his music to sound edgier or something.
