Absolutely! It’s beautiful.
And I think it actually brings up a really interesting contrast. When Fai speaks here he uses past tense.
(OOPS THIS POST HAS SPOILERS ALL THE WAY TO THE END OF SERESU, CASUAL EYES LOOK AWAY)
The past tense Fai uses makes it seem like his imprisonment is over, but it really isn’t. Though he’s no longer trapped in the ravine he has not been free a single moment of his life. Even after his rescue from Ashura, he’s been imprisoned by Evil Wolverine’s curses, and his plans, and Ashura’s manipulations to try break them. Every moment of Fai’s life has been railroaded for him by other people, including this journey right here.
I think Fai’s “cage” finally comes to its final stage when the final curse triggers and Seresu collapses around him. The closing of the world is Fai’s final imprisonment, both literally and mentally, since it’s an actual trap that will kill him but it also matches his mindset that you mentioned.
And, again like you mention, KUROGANE who breaks him out of this last cage. Kurogane cuts off his own arm to pull Fai out of his final prison once and for all - and at the same time, Kurogane’s love for Fai shows him that he is worth it, he deserves to be free, and he deserves to be loved for just existing without any greater design on his life.
So in the LITERAL sense Kurogane ends up being “the one who would take me along” in more ways than one.
And it is extremely homosexual.
