A sudden rush of panic flew over Theo, unsure which one of them was caught staring, but he snapped, “The hell are you looking at?”

“Nothing,” Liam laughed lightly, looking down at his food, “I just like you, asshole.”

The words turned inside Theo while he struggled to grasp them, putting a strange feeling in his chest that he couldn't quite place.

“I...” His voice came out oddly quiet, “Don't say shit like that to me.”

Liam wasn't fazed by the sudden spike of Theo's edges, “Fine. Let me translate to 'emotionally stunted prick' for you, Raeken. I don't not like you.”

Pulse thrumming like the tick of a time bomb, Liam almost choked around the dreaded words, “So what... what does that mean?”

The longer Theo's silence stretched, the more it fueled whatever loomed in this divide between them. Lungs filled with oil, a fuse wrapped around their throats, bones laced with gunpowder. It was torture, Liam waiting to see if Theo would come back to his side or let the bridge burn. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad, as long as Theo was next to him watching the flames engulf it all.

Maybe that was a lie too, when Liam said he wanted Theo to give him hell.

In the end, at least Theo damned him gently, “Liam, it... it means you can't be anything to me.”

welp, here goes. My very first fanart for Thiam. I’m UBER nervous but I really really hope ya’ll like it. It was certainly a labor of love.

This piece was inspired by an absolutely incredible fic, Inglorious Roommates by Honeyscapes. It came out much ...softer... than I originally planned but I really hope I did it justice.
