After being accepted into Ingolstadt, a college in Germany, Victor took up an interest in anatomy, which, combined with the recent passing of his mother, fueled his desire to create life. I know, it sounds like a really stupid idea, but Victor was going through a phase where he wanted to be an almighty god. Since he was all alone at college, there was no one to smack him upside the head and call him an idiot.
