What if... The maiden's were the "reincarnation" of Salem and Ozma's daughters?
(Along some other changes, the timeline did diverge a lot)
Jeanne: *sigh, dropping down on her bed like a bag of potatoes* ... This suck!
Jeanne: *Turning in her bed, looking at the ceiling with annoyance* Why did i choose to be a huntress!? I should have studied to become a doctor, at least that way everyone would be safe!
Jeanne: *sit up, facing the mirror affixed to her door, gritting her teeth as she notices the colored flames glowing in her eyes* All of this because of those stupid eyes! Of you! *Grabbing her pillow, throwing it towards the mirror with all her strength*
Jeanne: *feeling sadness in her heart, making her wince* I know you didn't choose me, that you were forced to, but i'm still really upset. *Sigh, seeing the flames slowly rescinding* If only you could speak-
Papa Arc: *opening the door gently* Jeanne- *dodging a lick of flame* WOW-
Jeanne: *her eyes now glowing incandescently* GET OUT!
Papa Arc: *sigh* Jeanne, i know you are upset, but i didn't have a choice. Your mother asked me-
Jeanne: *pointing him with an accusative finger* You had all the choices in the world when you first unlocked my aura when i was 6! You had the choice to not train me! *Point her face* YOU HAD THE CHOICE TO TELL ME WHAT THESE EYES MEANT, INSTEAD OF HIDING THE TRUTH UNTIL IT WAS TOO LATE!!!
Papa Arc: *wince* W-well, you wanted to follow your mother's step and-
Jeanne: I WAS 6! *Feeling anger rising inside of her* You screwed up my life, for heaven's sake! *close her eyes, take a deep breath to calm herself* If i had known people would come after me because of my "semblance", i never would have fought in that stupid tournament!
Papa Arc: *looking down, sadness in his voice* I'm sorry...
Jeanne: Tsk... *Sigh* Anyway, what is it?
Jeanne: *crossing her arms over her chest* You came here to tell me something, right? *frown* Because if you came here just to say hello, i swear to god-
Papa Arc: *wince* I know you won't like what i'm about to say, but the headmistress is waiting outside-
Jeanne: *shocked* DÉJÀ!? *Get up, run to the window then look outside*
Salem: *Waiting patiently, a cup of tea in hand, noticing the young woman at the window and waving at her*
Jeanne: *whispering loudly* PUTAIN! SALOPERIE DE MERDE! *turn towards her dad* Didn't you say she would come in a week!?
Papa Arc: That... Was a week ago, dear.
Jeanne: *punch the wall, leaving the imprint of her fist in it* MERDE!
Jeanne: *Sitting inside the car, her arm folded, a frown adorning her beautiful visage* ... Tsk.
Salem: *smiling gently" This is nothing but a temporary measure. Once you're taught how to properly defend yourself, you'll be free to attend any school you wish for WITH my recommendation.
Jeanne: *roll her eyes* Yeah well, that doesn't change anything about my future, does it? Either i have to learn how to kill, or i die.
Salem: It's a... bleak way to see your situation, don't you think?
Jeanne: But it's the truth. *Sigh* Had i known in advance, i would have tried to hide my powers, not use them in the middle of a televised event...
Salem: *sigh* We can only look at the past, but we cannot change it. In these times, all there is left to do is to continue forward along the rocky road of life.
Jeanne: *sigh, looking outside at the fields of wheat from the car window* ... I just wished i was given a choice in the matter, instead of inheriting a target in my back just because i'm my mother's daughter...
Salem: I... *She pauses, before continuing in a more empathetic voice* I know this probably won't change anything, but i'm glad someone like you inherited Autumn's soul. *Sigh, speaking internally* (You're leagues better than the one who has Vernal's soul...)
Jeanne: ... *Still looking outside as a small flame appears in her eyes* She's glad to see you again, by the way.
Salem: *surprised* You can hear her? (It's unusual, but not unheard of...)
Jeanne: *shaking her head* No, but i can feel what she's feeling... *Sigh* I still have difficulty believing you're an immortal witch, but having the soul of one of your deceased daughters jumping of joy inside of me really makes me relativise what's unbelievable or not i guess.
Salem: *chuckle* Well, she WAS the most emotional one of the four. And from what you are saying, she still is.
Jeanne: You have no idea... *Sigh* I always wondered why i had such mixed feelings, when i was a kid... *Turning her head fully towards Salem* Did you know she made me feel attracted to girls?
Jeanne: Well, i was always more attracted to men, then one day i started to see girls in the same way and-
Salem: *chuckle* Jeanne, i think you have reversed.
Jeanne: *tilt her head* Uh?
Salem: If you were already attracted to boys BEFORE hitting puberty, it's because she was straight. *Smirk* But if you started to like girls afterwards...
Jeanne: ... *Blushing hard, understanding exactly what it meant* O-oh. *Looking away* I... *Gulp* I guess i just learned something about myself, didn't i?
Salem: *stifling a laugh* Q-quite... *Sigh contently, a smile on her face* But you shouldn't worry about all that. If you didn't like boys in the first place, you wouldn't have felt attraction to them.
Jeanne: *still red* Hm...
Jeanne: *after a while* ... Can i ask you something?
Salem: Of course, what is it?
Jeanne: Well... *She looks at the ring at Salem finger* I know you are Autumn's mother, my ancestor, but... *She feels a knot forming in her throat*
Salem: *knowing exactly what she was about to ask* He's doing fine, yes. (Probably better than me...)
Jeanne: I-i see... *Nervous* Is he the one who-
Salem: *Shake her head* He would never hurt his daughters or their descendants. *Sigh* Ozma is a complicated man. *Sad smile* A far better person than i'll ever be, but also so much more complicated.
Jeanne: ... Are you two still married?
Salem: *she pauses for a moment, before giving Jeanne a small nod* We are, but... *Sigh* Like i said, it's complicated. We can't have children together or what happened with you would happen to far more than only four girls.
Jeanne: That's... That's sad. I'm sorry.
Salem: shake her head* Don't be... He found his peace, working at an orphanage, while i found mine helping the kingdoms fight the Grimm.
Jeanne: *feeling warmth in her heart* She's glad to hear that.
Salem: She hasn't met him in centuries, maybe millennia... And it took myself a century to find her again.
Jeanne: *clutching her hands tightly over her heart* It's a shame it was in such circumstances.
Salem: *Sigh* Indeed it is...
Jeanne: *taking out her luggage from the car, before turning around, facing Beacon* ... *Sigh* I always thought i'd be going to Shade, like my brothers.
Salem: *closing the trunk of the car* Would you have preferred if you did?
Jeanne: *shaking her head* Not really. It just was the cheapest option, i guess.
Salem: ... You don't need to pay to enter one of the academies.
Jeanne: *stretching out, before letting out a yawn* No, but you did just drive for 16 hours straight just to get me. It's a lot cheaper to take the boat to Vacuo than Vale from where i live.
Salem: *sigh* I've been telling those fools that we should build more train rails.
Jeanne: But they don't have the budget?
Salem: They do, but they prefer having bonuses over actually helping people. *Sigh* I miss being queen...
