We’re a very plot driven roleplay and we love that! But we don’t want to forget about our character development either! In order to allow your character to develop it’s important to understand where your character stands. What are their views on the world? What are their morals and values? How do they respond to certain situations? What are their motives? If your character is well worked out there should be a certain consistency the way your character acts and reacts throughout different threads with different characters. That’s why we created this super fun exercise so both you and the other players can get to know your character a little bit better! You can post the questions and their answers on your character’s blog. You can also post them in parts if you don’t have time to write them all at the same time. The main goal of this exercise is to really connect with your character and find out what drives them and why. Also to help the other players understand this as well! 1.       What was/is your characters relationship with their parents like? 2.       If inhuman: What was it like for your character to learn about their power for the first time? 3.       When was the last time your character cried and why? 4.       What’s a bad habit of your character? 5.       What’s a good quality of your character?   6.       Mention a well-known characteristic of your character and explain how this came to be (if you have multiple answers you can write those down too). 7.       Is your character religious? (In which situation or to what kind of person) Why? 19.   How does your character respond when they’ve wronged someone else? 20.   What does your character consider as their greatest achievement? 21.   When was your character the happiest in their life? 22.   What does your character consider as their lowest depth of misery? 23.   What’s your characters biggest fear? Why? 24.   If your character could change one thing about themselves what would it be? 25.   How has your character grown in the past 6 years? (Since they got their power until the war)

It has come to our attention that there have been players been made to feel uncomfortably pressured to plot things out or have been made uneasy in this situation, and we just want to make sure that everyone feels free from awkwardness and relaxed enough to let us know at any time if there are any more issues that arise. This is a group roleplay setting, and that typically involves interacting with other players to plot out ideas to make sure everyone feels included, and our aim as admins is to help guide those interactions and make sure they run as smoothly as possible, so please do not feel like you have to keep things from us, especially if they involved problems with other players.

Keeping that in mind, we also want to remind everyone to respect personal characterizations and keep motives for their own characters as reasonable and respectable as possible. Mary-Sue type characters are not allowed and aren’t fun to reply to. Self-inserted characters are not allowed and aren’t fun to reply to. We’re all here to enjoy a collaborative writing effort that includes everyone and progress our plot/story/character arcs/character motives in realistic ways in the current situation they are in.

You guys have been doing a great job at character development thus far and we can’t wait to see more come from you.
