The train moved at breakneck speed
Down the tracks like a
Rocket coming towards you to
Explode in a fiery ball of death
It hit me in my chest
Reverberated to my core
A punch to my brain
That shook my nervous system
Up and down my spine until
I realized that
Damn baby,
I love you
And this might be "poetry"
Avoiding the three enemies
Like prisoners avoiding the police
When they've escaped prison
Because of their beliefs
But baby, this not the atypical
Rhyme scheme
Ending rhyme abandoned like
Cliched movie endings that leave you going
"Goddamn that movie fucking sucked."
This
This is for you
Like a grape given to a King
Like a ring given to Frodo
To face Mordor
Like a wand given to Harry
To fight Voldermort
Like a sign given to protester
Like life given to a baby
Like money given to the poor
My thunder key is given to you
To open my lock box
Where all my secrets are kept
Like the time in sixth grade when I stole
My friend's Yu-Gi-Oh! card just so
I could have it and say I was the best
And how I can never admit my true feelings
To my friends, but baby, you're different
And that's why you get my thunder key
And at night, when I look at the sky
I know that you're staring at the same night as me
And I can't help but wonder
If the sun moved closer
Where would we be in time?
We would be nowhere
We'd be going nowhere fast
And yet it would be just you and me
You, me and the thunder key
