Inktober Day 25 — Tempting
I know, I’m falling behind, but considering it’s at the end of the month, I’d say I held out for quite a while for my first year doing this. I’ll try to catch up once I have the time, I just got a new job which is why I’ve been so busy and stressed recently. Only three days in and I’m already coming home exhausted.
Anyway, enough about real life, let’s talk about art! My first thought for the “Tempting” prompt was actually sirens,”. Like the kind that lives in water and would lure men towards them jus to drown and/or eat them, but I was having trouble figuring out a scene for that, so I put that idea on hold. My second thought was an apple like the garden of Eden, but while I had ideas for that, I couldn’t execute them as well as I wanted to (I also was working on this late last night, so I wasn’t in the right head space). In the end I went back to the siren idea, but with a monstrous twist! You know those angler gosh that have the lure on their heads? What if that, but with their tongues, and a lure that looked like a pretty woman! I remembered seeing videos online of artists making sculptures with similar ideas (one of them might’ve been a doll customizing video actually) so they definitely were a great inspiration for this picture.
Quick side note: I’m not sure if this classifies as “mature content” since everything is covered up, the monster isn’t that gory, and nothing is too serious. But if it does become an issue in the future, I’ll change it.
