New Companions
It was a snowy afternoon at Henry's house where the old man was decorating the Christmas tree with red and white ornaments. It was wrapped in white tinsel garland along with multicolored lights, red and white bulbs of various designs hung on the branches topped with a sparkly red star, but Henry was just getting started. The former animator wasn't going to stop at the tree and a Christmas sweater; he was going to go all out.
But where was Benny? Henry hadn't seen him all morning especially since the Bendy was more than happy to accept the job of decorating with him. He left the containers of Christmas stuff on the living room floor to see where Benny was hiding until a shriek from his wife, Linda, gave away the ink demon's position.
"What are they doing here?!" His wife shouted from Benny's room. Linda had found the toon playing catch with his new Darkrai and Rockruff. The room lacked furniture, so it was easier to play in it, though it did feel empty to Benny from time to time.
Henry ran up the stairs and looked in to see a disappointed, and furious Linda scolding a wincing Benny. Before Henry could intervene, Darkrai had used Dark Void on Linda to protect Benny, thinking she was a threat to him while Rockruff cowared behind the toon. Linda wobbled a little as the move took effect within minutes, then she fell on to the floor when she went in to a deep slumber. Benny's eyes widened, fearful that the woman was hurt, but she was sleeping just fine, and now Henry had time to ask questions calmly.
"Benny, where di-"
"Prowler gave them to me. I was just trying to help make them happy and comfortable before Linda walked in." The ink demon explained and was extremely guilty that Linda got on Darkrai's bad side. "I-if I had known she was coming, I would've hid them in the closet and none of this would've happened! I wanted to tell you guys wh-"
"Shhhhhh. It's alright, Ben. It wasn't your fault," Henry spoke in his usual fatherly tone as he picked Benny up to give him a hug. Any kind of affection helped with calming the toon down. "Linda will get used to you and your new friends; she's just worried about the safety of Valeria."
"But... Val and I are best friends."
"I know, Ben. I know," Henry kept him in the hug for two full minutes, then he let him down when Rockruff was on the old man's leg. The Pokémon knew Benny wasn't feeling the best and wanted to comfort him. "Head downstairs so you can get started on the rest of the decorations while I go put Linda on our bed."
"Okay..." Benny's voice was low and full of sorrow. His mood was ruined, but he tried to keep his chin up since it would only get better from there. His new companions followed him downstairs to aid him in decorating the interior of the house.
As the husband carried his sleeping wife in to their room, he slowly shook his head. "He's been here for a month, Linda. You're going to have to trust him soon," He whispered to her before he laid her on the bed, then gave her a kiss on the forehead.
