How strange.
No distinct heartbeat, low heat signature, she was giving off the equivalent vitals of a recent corpse. It made him more uneasy than anything else. Peculiar, somewhat alarming, unexpected, he wasn’t sure what to do- he didn’t have protocol for this particular situation. All there was left to do was to just think something up. He wasn’t the best under pressure.
“Pardon me. I’d simply like to ask a few questions.”

“Did you just break down the door?!” She’s running, laughing, and crying. Trying to prank Carmilla was a mistake.
“Carmilla tried to shallow an apple whole before, so I had to take it from her.”
“I’ve also done the Heimlich on her more than once.”

He’s fantastically curious, staring wide-eyes at her as if a closer inspection will somehow reveal more of who she is. Her explanation simply wasn’t enough.
“You’re a vampire, as in one of the ones with... fangs and such?”
Lovecraft has seen very, very few vampires in his life-- more akin to hearing rumours of them than actually meeting them. He always assumed they looked more.. ghostly, though. This young woman just looks like a young woman. More or less.

Mani was prisoner to her own sister, captured by her own son, and near hopeless about her current situation. Always around the same people, in the same-looking places, in the same situation.
Was she not allowed to be just a little irritated? She didn’t have to be polite to any of these people. She could do whatever she wanted.
