Thank you to Arlene Love, @inliquidart and @mtomezsko for the wonderful artist talk last on Love’s work in the context of the degrading sexist advertising imagery and attitudes prevalent all through the 20th century. I just keep thinking about how much courage it must have taken to make the type of work she made in the face of the societal norms and pressures of the time. Tonight at @paintedbrideartcenter: a very engaging evening of art from @inliquidart’s ‘Winged Woman: Arlene Love and Contemporary Parallels’ and from 6-8pm the artist talk ‘Arlene Love on Depictions of Women in Advertisements’ is happening. #InLiquidArtist Arlene Love will be discussing the trajectory of her career as an artist and the media's depiction of women from early 20th century advertisements to now.
