To celebrate Mother’s Day I’m posting my most maternal Taxidermy Automaton, both figuratively and literally. I created Inner Kitten in 2017. Turn the sound on to hear its story. This elegant cat is no longer young but she is still beautiful and full of wisdom. Beneath her is a sentimental scene with glowing crystals that signify energy, a golden chalice full of divine fruit that symbolize sustenance, and a butterfly with wings that reflect the sky, representing self-awareness and rebirth. One fruit is partially open, exposing a tiny head with a face like the cat. It is a fresh but delicate version of herself, an embodiment of new life. The cat looks around to make sure it is safe. She then reveals the precious little kitten within her. It floats peacefully inside of its holographic rainbow womb. A womb that is a magical world protected by the power of the mother. *Inner Kitten is now part of a private collection. Materials: cat skull and paws, diaphonized still born kitten, weasel skull, gooseberry husks, chandelier crystals, morpho butterfly, 18k gold, garnet, sapphire, amethyst, rhodolite, and peridot. This is Inner Kitten. I wanted to do a video with her before delivering her to her new home! And boy was that a dream house, you lucky kitty! I will miss you!
