Innoplexx and the Innovative Spirit
What an exciting time for innovation in Kentucky! Here are the latest updates regarding Innovate Kentucky and a few of its partners.
WKU celebrates the opening of Innoplexx, the Student Business Accelerator. Housed at The Center for Research and Development, Innoplexx presents an amazing new resource for students who are aspiring entrepreneurs. Students now have an opportunity to grow their idea in an environment that is both nurturing and challenging. The nine businesses already working with Innoplexx get to enjoy a new 1,200 square foot office space and work with professionals like Doug Rohrer and Jeff Hook. I'm sure those burgeoning companies would love to have some company!
Students from the Honors College and Gatton Academy prepare for Capturing the Innovative Spirit. Innovate Kentucky is sponsoring a winter-term class that will be taught by J. Krist Schell and focus on the entrepreneurial process. Over three weeks, the 12 students will hone their ideas in the hopes of emerging from the class with a viable business plan. Who knows, some of them might end up at Innoplexx!
Innovate Kentucky will provide a day of programming at the Discover Tech: Engineers Make a World of Difference exhibit in Glasgow. The Mary Wood Wheldon Memorial Library in Glasgow was selected as a host for the traveling exhibit, which is only stopping at seven other locations across the country (the next closest being Huntsville, Alabama!). Innovate Kentucky – along with SKyTeach – will provide a day of engineering-related programming on Saturday, January 19th at the library. Stay tuned for more details about this exciting event!
