“Bell's Brewing Inc. of Galesburg, MI has filed a federal lawsuit against Innovation Brewing of Sylva, North Carolina. This suit claims that Bell's has used an unregistered advertising slogan "bottling innovation since 1985" which could lead to market confusion for customers. Bell's also uses a slogan "inspired brewing" that is part of the legal complaint that the company believes would be confused with Innovation Brewing's name.”
I grew up in Sylva, which is a very very small town full of very very cool and creative people that often have a hard time finding their footing in such a secluded place. But even if this didn’t hit close to home, it’s still not right. A huge chunk of my facebook friends have already boycotted Bell’s, and my dad started a gofundme campaign to help Nicole Dexter and Chip Owen with their legal fees.
I know it’s not like most Tumblr cries-for-help, but donations and/or spreading the word is greatly appreciated! The gofundme campaign can be found here and you can find more info by literally just googling “innovation brewing” because 90% of their online info is now about Bell’s trying to screw them over. At the very least attention needs to be brought to this, because craft brewing has become a cesspool of backstabbing and ridiculous lawsuits over nonsense that has nothing to do with beer. Please help out the little guy and share an article somewhere!
