ALS is a debilitating type of motor neuron disease that is characterized by progressive degeneration of nerve cells in the spinal cord and brain affecting more than 30,000 people in the United States.
Traveling over three hours from Newton, MS to receive her care at the Ochsner ALS Center, Cille decided to participate in an innovative program to preserve her voice. Though the Ochsner ALS Voice Banking program, created by UQ – Ochsner Clinical School medical students, Cille will be able to communicate with family and friends should she lose the ability to speak.
