Interview: Chatting It Up With Inpetto And Their Future Release On Mixmash

We had the pleasure to do a Q&A with one of the members of Inpetto, Marco Duderstadt, during the Mixmash Boatparty in N.Y.C. Needless to say that his set before Laidback Luke was amazing. The German duo Inpetto also known as Fragma are known for their hit song “Toca’s Miracle” which has sold over 500,000 copies and debuted at #1 in the UK back in 2001. They have been in the Dance music industry for many years now, and they have been killing it recently with their last original releases under their alias Inpetto. Check out the interview below.

How and why did you guys start making music?

We started making music as a hobby back in 1993-1995. My brother started DJ-ing for fun. I was more into computer science; I had a Commodore 64 and we used to make simple beats on a tracking program. I had a lot of fun experimenting and then I eventually got into DJ-ing with my brother Dirk.

Why did you guys create Inpetto?

Inpetto was born at the same time as Fragma pretty much; in fact, we released a remix of « Toca Me » on the B side as Inpetto. The reason why we did it, was because we were going towards a different sound.

When did you guys start working with Mixmash?

We started working with them in 2015 and we actually have some tracks coming soon on Mixmash; more info coming soon…

Do you see yourself making Trance music again?

I think I wouldn’t be making the same Trance as back in the day. Electronic music has been evolving so fast and I love to keep experimenting and develop new sounds. We don’t want to stick into one genre.

How is the process when you start making a song?

We generally start with a beat or a chord progression and then we build the track around it. It all depends on the project. Sometimes, we can also build a track based on the acapella we receive.

What is your top 3 plugins? What D.A.W. do you guys use?

We use Logic Pro X. Our top 3 plugin would be Serum, Sylenth1, and Izotope for mastering.

Who is your top 3 EDM artists?

My top 3 artist would be Mark Avilla who did a remix for us, he is really talented; Zedd because he is a great musician; and finally, I would say Virtual Riot because he is an amazing sound designer.

Do you have any upcoming projects?

We will be releasing two tracks soon; they will be out on Mixmash Records. We are really excited to release them and we cannot wait for you guys to hear it.
