[text] Are you still at work?
[outgoing:sms] Almost always am.
[outgoing:sms] Why?
"Sir? Could I speak to you a moment?"
“Of course, please come in, Sterling.”
Hi! I'm currently reading the Volsunga saga, and I'm confused by a line uttered by Regin shortly after Fafnir is slain. He says, "Mine own brother hast thou slain, and scarce may I be called sackless of the deed.” I've googled this, but I'm really struggling to understand what he means by that. Is he saying he's innocent, or culpable? Thanks for any light you can shed on this. :)
I believe the Volsunga Saga quotes the Fafnismol in The Poetic Edda, and I found another translation by Henry Adams Bellows (1936) that might clarify that particular line:
25. “Glad art thou, Sigurth, | of battle gained,As Gram with grass thou cleansest; My brother fierce | in fight hast slain,And somewhat I did myself.”
Because Regin told Sigurth/Sigurd where to find Fafnir and led him to the dragon’s keep, so he is not completely without fault for his brother’s death, and would be then admitting that fact.
I hope that clarifies things!

[ Of all the times to receive such a message.
Robert had been blackmailing him for the medical treatment of his dog, Wiggam, and Edgar had refused to submit, refused to give more money than he already had, so the dog he’d had for six years was potentially dying—or dead because of what had happened in London.
His family may or may not have been affected by the events in London, and he had not heard word from his family—not that he truly expected it, but not knowing if they were alright was killing him.
Not to mention that he had stopped sending letters to his parents—ignoring that part of his therapy since his kidnapping and torture in 2002 for the first time in ten years. And now he didn’t even know if they were alive. There was a guilt there that couldn’t stem from logical means, but it was eating him alive all the same.
He left the text unanswered. ]
"Uhh... Germany. It was Germany." Isaac smiled, glad for the comfort, hoping he was not mistaken. If his parents were alive... If any of their data had survived... ((Omg, sorry this is probably late- My tag didn't update...))
"It gives me something to work with at the very least. I will, of course, notify you if I manage to get any information, though I will warn you that i may take some time."
"Germany. It was Germany. I can't remember where, specifically. I never even saw the entire property. Only the lab and part of the house. I think it exploded. I mean, that's what I remember, anyways. But I thought maybe their work would have been reported, higher ups would've known about it. Unless it was all off the record, or they were going behind someone's backs... Or not, I don't know. Sorry, I just... thought you might know something. Sorry I can't be more specific..."
"It’s a start," Avery replied, trying to assure the other man that this was at least somewhere he might be able to build on. "You are sure it was Germany, though? Not Austria, or Switzerland, or somewhere they merely spoke German? If so, that gives me an area I can easily work with."
[text] There's correlation. [text] Next time that phone gets a text, see if he goes anywhere. Find out where.
[outgoing:sms] I will set up surveillance near his residence.
[outgoing:sms] Perhaps see if a tracking device might be available.
"Please, smoke," Isaac urged. He had been up-front because he needed to trust Edgar. He was a coworker who fought HYDRA. He would be professional, he hoped. "I wanna know whatever you know. What they were trying to do. If you can discover what... what they did to me, more specifically. Who it was for. The, uh, the outcome of the explosion in their lab." They were dead, Isaac had always thought. But he realized... Perhaps it was not so.
"Do you know where their lab was located? I still have contacts in Germany that can aid me in finding out HYDRA activity from years back—it’s the more recent information that is harder to obtain," Agent Avery explained, taking a lengthy draw from his cigarette.
"If their lab exploded, much of what they were doing may well be gone by now, but if there are records that survived, I will try to get them found as quickly as possible."
