(I just saw the Captain Trotter is Player's dad au/headcanon so I decided to write my own spin on it for fun; also because I want more fluff with the angst)

Captain Trotter was an only parent and tried his best to keep Player, whos actual name I haven't fully decided but something like Alistair or Lombard (yes I stole these names from a website, mainly because I like names with meaning) before he lost them while trying to go on a voyage.

They were found a brought to an orphanage and lived there for most of their life before they managed to leave and started to live on their own. Then the VIP convention happened at did Shedletsky's quest until the Firebrand. Meanwhile for Captain Trotter, he tried desperately to find them but when he couldn't, he just accepted that they were probably dead and felt like such a horrible dad. He started treating his crew like his children and started getting more members, basically adopting them.

When Player and Captain Trotter met, them both didn't recognize each other but Captain Trotter did notice a few similarities between them but just tried to not think about it. As the demo progresses, he notices more and more similarities between them, but he still ignores it, worried that he is just being delusional.

(Now I'm going to do an angst and happy version of how he could realize that Player is his child)

In the angst one, when he is fighting Calypso and Player, he sees how Player are acting like him while fighting and he finally realizes that they are his child, but it's too late. He is too consumed by his emotions and the death of his crew, so he can't even tell them before Calypso accidentally kills him, leaving him to be another soul in the Firebrand, helpless to watch and they continue to destroy themselves with guilt and doing the quest all by themselves.

But in a happier version, Captain Trotter realizes as he is ranting about how the gold means nothing without his crew (because I imagine he would talk about his supposedly dead child during it) and then it hits him all at once that Player is his child and before they can even think about getting the Firebrand, he tackles them into a bear hug, ugly sobbing as him tells them everything and how sorry he is. This makes them sob too, all while Calypso is just standing off to the side, maybe also shedding a few tears because she misses her sister. They managed to find a safe way to get the Firebrand without sacrificing anyone and retired to camp, seeing a few pirates actually stayed behind and they just rest up at the campsite before going back to Shedletsky, which, of course, Captain Trotter gives him a piece of his mind because he sent his child all alone on a dangerous quest without even trying to train them except for using the swords. Also, he and Calypso become permanent members of their party. (Imagine if he just gave people the death glare for looking at his child wrong. Also holy moly this was way longer than I meant it to be)

I think that even though Cruel King can't see Player that often, he is still very worried about they due to how many swords they are collecting without any real breaks inbetween; so when they do take short breaks with him in Nervana, he always makes sure they get at least a bit of sleep.

Player likes this arrangement, mainly because they want to make sure the people they care for know that they care for them due to them having a hard time expressing their emotions, especially after demo 3 (I also like the headcanon that Player still feel the emotions that they defeated, they just have to refight the emotion if they feel that emotion too strongly).

Player also visits him a lot more after demo 4, due to feeling horribly guilty over what happened to Captain Trotter and are extremely worried that it will happen again, but is also afraid to open up to other people about this and worry them, especially Shedletsky, so they only really go to Cruel King for anything personal. (...wow I didn't mean for this to get so angsty for my first ask, also, can I be insanity anon?)

love all the 1xPlayer au and them not being 1x but still being Telamon's child or they being some kind of God, but it would be some funny if they were just a regular person who liked making animations?

Sure, they may have something after they got sent back in time, but they were just some person that the very injured and delirious Shedletsky sent to grab all the swords, thus, giving them a bunch of trauma.

(I'm writing two super long headcanons rn and starting to hate myself because of that/hj. So hear is a shorter one for now)

Cruel King gets bored in Nervana often, so he talks to the Guru and watches over Player, sometimes without them knowing.

He is becoming increasingly worried for their mental health and is thinking of just kidnapping them to force them to that a break from Shedletsky's quest.
