The fish Granute is named Dean, which is a play on Sardine.

His Aliases are both references to sardines too.

Iwashimizu references iwashi, Japanese for sardine. If you know Pokemon see also Wishiwashi.

And his second alias was just Sardina.

Which also references how large schools of small fish will make themselves look like one large fish
