So.... what if Robotnik didn't die in the explosion? What if Robotnik actually had a contingency plan? He has an IQ of 300, so why wouldn't he have created an escape route?
So let's say he escaped the explosion and went into hiding.
Into hiding, alone.
Without his agent.
Why he would do that, you may ask?
Well, he decided on 2 reasons why this idea was far superior to any alternative.
Number 1: How the hell should he face Stone after he had left him behind, even though his agent had been right that Gerald really hadn't told him everything. How could he ever kit this relationship (friendship???) again, when he was the one to simply discard of the one person that truly cared about him so easily.
And number 2: Maybe it is better that way. Stone deserves to be free of the burden that is Ivo Robotnik. How often has Robotnik failed his agent. He knows he is hard to lov- care for. And still, his agent did care. For a long time. But everyone has their limits. Ivo doesn't want to find out if this limit was reached when he left stone behind. So it's better that Stone believes him to be dead so that his agent isn't burdened with having to care for him anymore.
Of course, every plan goes straight out of the window when Robotnik sets loose metal sonic, and Stone tracks him down in less than a day, ready to kill anybody impersonating his doctor
