Titanfall 2 - Inside Development: Matchmaking
As part of an ongoing series of behind-the-scenes videos with the team, game developer Respawn have just released the latest instalment which focusses on Matchmaking - outlining what they learned from the previous Titanfall game and what they are doing to improve it for the sequel.
Jon “Slothy” Shiring and Mike Kalas from the dev team explain that many players of Titanfall found their previous matchmaking system confusing, often resulting in matches that weren’t full or unbalanced as a result of players leaving or solo queuers getting matched against teams of 4. Their new matchmaking system will be a skill based system and the data collected from all matches in the previous game have been entered into a new simulator which has had some very promising results.
This video follows on from the Inside Development: Servers video posted a few days ago where “Slothy” details the improvements to server stability and invites player to stress test and break the servers during the BETA stages so that they can learn and improve further ready for launch.
Titanfall 2 is out on 28th October 2016 and is available to pre-order on PS4 and Xbox One with The Game Collection now.
