My work with boys in juvenile prison has turned me into a father-figure. it has now reached a point where I Need Your Help to Be a Better Fa
When I met the first incarcerated 100 male teen offenders in 2012, I realized I had to get deeper into this, or stop living. Of course, I am no superman, meaning I need your help. Here's why...

5 months ago, I met a representative from a company who promised he'd have men from his company visit our exceptional young men in juvenile prison. Today, he came to say he is sorry his company opted to visit a women's prison last Saturday. I immediately went through two emotional shifts of joy and sadness, all in the same fleeting instance. Feeling #1: joyful the company visited a women's prison. Feeling #2: sad that my boys didn't get picked up for a visit. Conclusion: we agreed that he would come as a guest speaker and speak to our Class of 25. #REAMProgram #LifesongKenya #Insideoutprogram #ExceptionalYoungMen (at Nairobi, Kenya) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bul5vZ0hUOi/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1v0bbgafxtkcx
They say pictures speak more than a thousand words. Ours are of boys whose faces cannot be shown due to a number of reasons. Yet, behind every hidden face there's - a person - a human being - a boy and an exceptional young man who has a beating heart, a desire to become the best he can ever be and a dream of better days and things to come. Today offers you the opportunity to turn one life of a boy and an exceptional young man around. Support us today. #LifesongKenya #REAMProgram #Insideoutprogram #ExceptionalYoungMen (at Nairobi, Kenya) https://www.instagram.com/p/BudNlvAhvqm/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1klli7wbdmw52
The more we Lifesong Kenya keeps providing interventions for exceptional young men, the more we're discovering it isn't the programs working but more people willing to help and provide support. Will you be the next person who is willing to support @lifesongkenya? Your help can change direction of a young man who will embark on a new path that reduces re-offending and crime. #LifesongKenya #InsideOUTProgram #ExceptionalYoungMen #RestorativeJustice https://www.instagram.com/p/BuHWPJghHBc/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=2bwyla5aguvt
When crime or offense occurs, relationships are damaged, lives are broken, opportunities are missed and stigma happens. Lifesong Kenya aims at involving wrong doers, victims of crime and the community in healing, reconciliation and making amends through restorative justice. We need your support to make this happen. Together, we'll restore 100 boys exiting juvenile prison this year. #LifesongKenya #restorativejustice #InsideOUTProgram #ExceptionalYoungMen https://www.instagram.com/p/BuEORGggD2X/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=p1z5zl9qeuk4
Help Us Celebrate this Week's Hero Kevin 'Blackman Benjo' Ochieng is a passionate, innovating and focused volunteer @lifesongkenya. His first stint with us was during our Half Way Cycle from Nairobi to Migori, a grueling 500+ km bike ride. This year, Kevin offered to offer his skills and experiences to boys and exceptional young men in our programs. Kevin plays the piano at CITAM Woodley Church and desires to master playing the saxophone. He is currently studying Diploma in Business Information Technology at Strathmore University. #LifesongKenya #ImpactZone #InsideOUTProgram #ExceptionalYoungMen https://www.instagram.com/p/Bt05IJ5gYZC/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1bogc77rjazwx
Are you coming to visit me in prison? That is what Prince - not his real name - asked when I answered his call two days ago. Having let him down the whole of December, I expected him to be angry and disappointed. Instead, he asked if I was going to visit him in prison. "Hello James, I'm going back to prison today," Prince said. "Okay," I replied. "Are you coming to visit me in prison?" he asked. "Yes I will come," I promised. "Thank you so much," he said before he was cut off. Even though Prince is free, he has no home to go to. It is something you wouldn't understand until you get involved. Your support and involvement will enable Lifesong KENYA to provide employable skills and after care services for boys exiting juvenile prison. Get involved today. #HalfWayCycle #LifesongKenya #InsideOUTprogram #StandingWithBoys (at Lifesong KENYA) https://www.instagram.com/p/BsOXhcxAK1D/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=16h6v4ora35zc
