this is a two parter: 1) what's your biggest regret? 2) if you had the ability to go back and change it, would you/how would you change it? (assuming no massive butterfly effect, only things that directly come after the 'regret' situ)
This is a good set.
1) I don’t have many regrets. I could say I regret marrying my ex, that I’d thought at the time that I wasn’t outgoing enough to meet many people, and nobody else was interested or asking, and that I didn’t notice how selfish/impatient/neglectful he was, and I shouldn’t have settled. But I got a lot of beautiful, scarily smart, insightful humans out of that deal, who would all take a bullet for me. So there’s that.
I think my biggest regret is something that really can’t be helped, and that is, that I married Wolf, 29 years younger than I am, just in time for me to go through menopause, thereby ensuring that he’ll never get to have a child of his own (at least not through me). I would have loved to have a child with him, and I think it would have been a beautiful and intelligent child, and at first I was still able to at least conceive. But out of the last 4 pregnancies I had, I lost 4 babies (the last pregnancy was twins) and only had one live birth. And 3 of those 4 pregnancies resulted in a heavy enough bleed to land me in the hospital (including after the live birth). So we didn’t want to risk my health or life. I guess my uterus, after being pregnant 11x with 12 kids, was just too tired. And that, my dear, is a very deep regret for me.
2) I don’t think anything could be done to change it. Meeting him earlier in either of our timelines would never have worked (I was married, he was too young), and physically, it wasn’t something that could be helped. But it’s still a big hole in my heart.
