A shadow of colour on a grey night.

Idk why but I like the feeling this tree gave me. Like if it could hang onto the sandstone and grow here I could do anything.

The hot, dry wind howled down the underpass.

The flowers, left behind like so much detritus

Scattered across the pavement

Looked as tiny creatures in the grey of the day

That might get up and scuttle away at any moment.

Perhaps on the next breath of wind

To whisper through the place

Every time I took a step the Sky seemed to change. It seemed to me to shift. As though not fully here but not fully there either. Not really anywhere and yet, somehow, near here.
