St. Stephen's Day Training
Yesterday was my second day of weighted pull-ups. I'm getting about not psyching myself out. Three 5-pound pull-ups was a struggle a few days ago, but 4 5-pound pull-ups was easier. (I did 110 standing pull-ups on Christmas Eve for strength-endurance, by the way! It was just a few weeks ago that I had to stop at 70 because of my hands, but the 110 didn't mother my hands at all.)
I was inspired by Alice's 100kg deadlift, so first up at the gym was leg supersets of kettlebell swing, decline goblet squats, Romanian deadlifts, lunges (each rep included a forward and a backward lunge for 5 reps, then repeated on other leg, for all sets), and glute bridges (10 x 12 pounds for all sets):
Set 1: 25x 25lb KB, 10x 10lb squats, 10x 15lb deadlifts
Set 2: 20x 30lb KB, 10x 15lb squats, 10x20lb deadlifts
Set 3: 25 x 25lb KB, 10x 15lb squats, 10x20lb deadlifts
Then I did chest, lower back (seated row), dumbbell biceps curls (20x 15lb/arm), abs, and hip abductors and adductors. I still couldn't do shoulders because of my thumb, but I should be able to in another week or two.
My legs were jelly for a few hours yesterday, and I've got a little bit of DOMS in my glutes and tightness in my hamstrings today. But my knee is totally fine so far!
I still need to do my pull-ups today; I'm going to do moderate-strength (unweighted pull-ups for 5-7 reps/set). We're going to church this evening so we can go see the manatees tomorrow. There should be some walking, and maybe we'll get back in time to go to the pool (if I can convince my parents to go... it's supposed to be in the 80's).
