Some of them I know personally, as many of you do as well. . 'The Butterfly Phoenix' began this year at Burning Man in the 3rd annual live performance mediation set with @goldcap at the camp Infinite Love. I painted for 3 hours straight in a trance like state, focusing on the miracle of life and the concept of infinite love. I knew it was the beginning of something powerful as I trusted the brush to carry the prayer. A few months later this painting was almost sacrificed in the flames of the Woolsey fire, but was rescued at the very last minute. The soot from the fire darkened it slightly though the actual canvas is undisturbed. I have added more light back into the piece in honor of the re-birth and resurrection that comes after the flames have subsided. The strength and power of the Phoenix is something we need to remember when times get tough, and as the Butterfly also symbolizes transformation, together they remind us to have hope. .
