This last year I trained to complete an Ironman. The goal was to challenge myself and dedicate myself to train. It was made more doable from a family point of view because of Covid. Without a doubt Nadine made this possible. I thank her endlessly. I tried to train at times that didn’t cut into family time, but especially at the end, it did. I’d feel guilty but by that point I was completely invested, so I had to see this through. She is a superwoman, super mom and I’m lucky to be married to her. The race was great. I promised to never to run another marathon unless it was for an Ironman. At no point did I pressure myself to set any records, especially given my “track” record of running half marathons fast, but marathons really slow. The goal was to finish. That I did. In 12 hours and 50 minutes. Quite a bit slower than I expected for me, but I’m at peace with it. I completed a grueling race in choppy water, a bike in 20 mph wind and rain, and a run through beautiful Tallinn. Ironman Estonia was extremely well run and organized. I cant recommend this race enough. I met lots of other great people before, during and after the race from all around the world. Just goes to show there are great people everywhere. And Tallinn, Estonia is very nice. Warm humble people that have had their independence since 1991. Definitely a place to visit and a country I’d like to bring the whole family to in the future. With that, I’m now an Ironman!!! Time to get fat.
