I am beyond annoyed with aol aim right now. They cut support on older versions of aim (including the one I’ve been using since 2009) so I was forced to download the new version, which is HORRIBLE. It no longer tells you how long a person has been signed on. It doesn’t show “away messages”, but statuses instead, and instead of keeping the status up until you take it down, it just posts it as your latest update. So no longer does a “shower brb” status mean anything because no one can see when you take it down. Also I’m assuming the little “don’t” symbol ( the circle with a diagonal line through it ) means that the person has gone idle? But I really cannot find any information about that whatsoever, which is another complaint I have about the support, or lack there of, that their website provides. But regardless, it doesn’t show how long they have been idle. A lot of the other settings/preferences that older versions offered are now gone. Linked screen names are no longer supported, so you cannot be signed onto more than one screen name at a time ( on the Mac version at least ) which is horrible news for a roleplayer like me. The manner in which the logs are kept is awful as well. They no longer keep logs by the date of the chat in individual files, but instead in one giant log which each user you talk to. So a log with user XYZ will just add more and more onto the same file each time you talk. And the Mac version also does not offer spellcheck. I’m sure there are a ton of other flaws this version has that I have yet to find, but I am not happy.

what the actual fuck? what is even the point in using aim anymore? i’m honestly livid right now. this version is so fucking ugly and horribly unmanageable.
