This is so good! One thing I like to remind all Mindful of Movement athletes is to relax your belly (stop sucking or holding it in). #Repost @instilphysio (@get_repost) ・・・ Diaphragm continued....... . To make sure we are optimally accessing our core during every exercise, we can use our breath to help us find proper alignment and utilize our core in better way. . When the chest (thorax) is flared up (check pic to ⬅️) you most likely are breathing into your upper chest and may not be using your diaphragm as effectively. . When we stack our thorax (ribs) over our pelvis as in the pic ➡️, we are better able to access the diaphragm and core system. . Check where your breath is going right now! . In standing..Inhale..Exhale.. . Did your breath go into your chest? Belly? Or another area? 🤔Now see if you can stack your ribs and find a breath that goes all the way around the lower rib cage. Trick: let those abs go! Once you get the breath all the way around the ribs, try to integrate this breath into exercise like your squats. . Questions/comments.....let us know! (Disclaimer—the right cue for breathing is unique to everyone, if you want to learn more hit up a knowledgeable therapist and get working on that breath). . . #instilphysio #movewellbewell #core #diaphragm #breathing #pistonbreath #athletes #femaleathlete #prevention #injuryprevention #exercise #strength #squats #lifting #gym #workout #physiotherapy #pistonscience (at Mindful of Movement)
