There is a specific kind of quiet that falls when an institution demands complicity. You see it when a school expects staff to ignore a teacher hitting a student, or when a company expects you to look past a superior harassing a colleague.
They call it protecting the brand. They expect you to play along.
Refusing to explain yourself to people who are committed to misunderstanding you is not an attitude. It is a boundary. Sometimes silence is the only space left to process the reality of a system operating exactly as it was built to.
