If you are planning on visiting your child or grandchild in Canada for more than 6 months at a time then you require what Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) calls a super visa. A super visa allows a parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident to visit their child or grandchild for up to two years at a time. There are some medical insurance requirements which are required to be fulfilled to be approved for a super visa, as follows: Must be purchased from a Canadian insurance company. Must be valid for at least 1 year from the date of entry to Canada. The policy coverage must be at least $100,000.
