It wasn’t any surprise to William to find Thomas in the library and quite frankly, that was exactly where William wanted him to be as William planned on making use of him to assist in William’s latest goal.
With primers on German carried in his arms, William dropped them onto the table in front of Thomas before taking the chair across from him and reaching for the book on top. “You’re going to help me learn a language.” William declared, which wasn’t the most unheard of thing for him to do. After all, when Katrinka married Harry and England became allies with Russia, William set about learning their language in an attempt to prove their dedication to the bond and William practicing his Russian with Katrinka regularly. While he still had room for improvement and not as skilled in it as he was in French, William was still good enough to converse, which was something.
But this wasn’t Russian and it wasn’t French, either, but instead it was German and William’s motivation wasn’t proving a bond between countries, but one inspired by red curls and a smile that promised mischief. “This trip has been exemplary at proving I need to know more than four languages. There’s a Sultana I’ve spoken with on two occasions and we wouldn’t understand a word the other said if not for her translator.” Perhaps he should have looked into having Thomas learn a language to more easily communicate with those from the Ottoman empire.
