The sigh that left her lips echoed through the woods. It was sunny, but it was silent like the woods knew about the carnage that happened that night. Yet the day still went, even with a slight chill in the air, Vivi found herself back in the woods that she escaped into, to walk back towards vampire controlled lands. She didn’t have to but there were two reasons for her going: to see if there was anyone struggling to stay alive that she could help and to see if there were any valuable items that were dropped in the frenzy. She needed to be alone in this, not that she wasn’t alone most of the time already, but she didn’t want anyone seeing her or asking what she was doing. Vivi had a feeling she was kicking up too much sand lately and she wanted to go back to how things were. How it was when it was just her and James and everything was safe.
Then she heard some rustling and her head whipped around to the sound. She gripped the strap of her bag and froze, keeping quiet. A twig snapped and Vivi turned around again, on high alert. Maybe it was possible for her to just make a run for it now and leave everything for whoever else had the same idea as her. It wasn’t worth it. “Who’s there?”
