"A lot!" The gladiator was quick to reply in a cheerful voice, the corners of her mouth lifting into a wide grin as her tail wagged a little. Today's lunch was her favorite (and Lumine paid her a visit!) so she couldn't be in a better mood. As an athlete with an extreme training that would have most fainting before completing half of it, combined with her forte, Lupa burned too many calories per day. That meant she had to consume just as much, so her body could keep with the amount of exercise she did. That aside, the sun was setting, and the day was about to end. She had nothing else to do, except...

"Are you busy right now, warrior? I was planning on going hunting..." A wild boar? A kerasaur? Lupa forgot to specify, but she didn't forget to lean closer to the traveler and do the puppy eyes. Was she being too pushy? Maybe Lumine just wanted to sit back and relax? Or maybe they already went hunting and just returned from their own hunt? Ugh, should've thought of that before saying the first thing that came to mind, but... she has always thought that going hunting with your peers was fun... "If we catch something good, I can make dinner for the two of us."

amusement discovers jeremiah in the form of a breathy chuckle , rumbling deep from within his chest at sol's unprompted ( yet appreciated ) chivalry in regards to the survivalist show that played on his cafe's flat screen. it was late , much too late for any teenagers to be wandering inside , & even adults were scarce , but that was to be expected on a tuesday night , when the dread of going to work still loomed over most. it wasn't the weekend yet — that was when brews & books would see its busiest times.

' JUST a raccoon? ' he repeats , neatly trimmed eyebrow raising with a smirk curling each side of his lips. ' ain't you a lion? how's it that the king of the jungle's scared of a bear? '

he slides a freshly brewed , pip hot mug of hot chocolate towards sol , voice still teasing as he continues. ' s'that all i'm worth to ya'? a scrap wit'a rodent thief? '

Varka turns to his second-in-command with an expression of faux surprise, a hand raised to rest over his heart. "Me? Whatever do you mean?" he asks, gesturing over the crowd in front of them, all of them at least a head smaller than him. Even if it wasn't for his height, he's the only one in the area wearing a chest plate and a claymore at his side, so when boiled down there's really not much of him that doesn't stand out.

He drops the act with a wink in her direction, lowering his hand to the hilt of his weapon. "You're right, I don't blend in. You on the other hand," he starts, a confident smile spreading on his lips, "are perfectly equipped to suss out our strange little contact before the Order gets involved officially. What a great team we make, Gunnhildr."

He could have asked Kaeya for assistance - this sort of mission is right up his sleeve - but Jean did make the mistake of mentioning a desire to leave her office more frequently and who is he to deny her some field time?

colten is just gonna attach himself to hiro's back, lip pressing to pulse with a low whine. so warm, he's gonna stay right here.

It was usually the other way around, Hiro was the back hugger, the clinger-on when Colten was busy with something else and keeping to himself. Colten usually came from the front, a busybody, eager to be the centre of that attention he so demanded, so this was a little alarming to the tanuki. As he moved to shake his hands free of water from washing them in the sink, he let them hover for a moment to allow himself to be manhandled just a bit more. Colten, was whining… Which could mean two or three things, he was sad, he was needy, or he was being annoying on purpose.

Hiro was quick to rule out the third, the other wasn't tickling him and snuffling at his hair which always made Hiro feel ticklish, so it wasn't annoyance. The tanuki sniffed at the air, denoting the lack of moisture with a hint of salt, thus - sadness wasn't on the cards either. So, this… was neediness. He blinked a few times at the moment though - taking it in, debating what to do. He was about to start their lunch, but it was only going to be sandwiches. They can wait.

"…Should we set up the kotatsu early this year?" It took up most the room in the main living space, it was chunky - a well worth investment. Took them both five months to pay it off on the stores scheme. Worth it though. "We don't have mandarins but my kaa-san sent some mango, if you want some of those?"

The small box lies on the floor before them, shattered into a dozen little pieces. From this angle the beautifully painted picture that was drawn on the lid is still recognizable in part - two mermaids dancing with a dolphin, a trio the shape of which, when drawing a line around them, would have given them the exact outline of the island they're looking for in the cluster of little islands and peninsulas they're currently navigating.

"That's 'cause you broke it, idiot!!" Sanji yells, slapping his hand against the back of Luffy's head, hard enough to make him stumble forward. "Now we don't know which of the islands it is and we don't have time to check all 42 of them!" And even if Nami can probably narrow down which one they're looking for by assessing the rough size and weather conditions there, she'll probably root out 15 of the smaller ones or so at best.

He should have known not to let their captain handle the box, no matter how much he pouted about wanting to hold it. "Pick up those pieces and find the damn mermaids or cook your own dinner tonight!"

"The worst places imaginable? The most wild and unknown options known to man? I can only imagine that unstable would try to be the name of the game."

Lighter knew a lot better than to truly see Lucy anywhere else. Her tenacity found a comfortable home, and for the now ex-runaway princess, a life amidst the cruel grit of the Outer Ring felt like a natural answer. Deeper down, to even try challenging that fact would be to openly declaring war upon his own feelings. Her presence found itself appreciated, a core piece of this puzzle etched with more timeless slots to fill.

Amidst the revelry of a celebratory feast hosted by the Sons, he doesn't miss a beast in knocking glasses with her, allowing the slosh of good drink to billow over the rim before taking the time to knock it back. The refreshing plunge into the cool flavor was a way to tame the flames dancing wildly within, to draw forth a core of calm that mixes well with bliss, allowing one more potent cocktail to settle in his mind. That dark jade fringe found itself flicked from his eyes, if only to allow the view of Lucy to be taken in full.

Beautiful. Simply put. There was no better way to describe those eyes that burned infernal, despite having a very selfish, charming warmth for those she dearly cares for within her band. From the roar of her tones, to that tactical prowess, to the quieter moments between words and the smaller moments shared. The Champion found himself loosening upon the reigns of hesitation, to gradually reach forth and explore more of what this is set between them.

"You don't need me to tell you that you're one of a kind, but that isn't stopping me from wanting to get that across either. --Lucy, you're important to us, to me." A brief pause follows.

"Heh. If push comes to shove, y'know the Sons would stage the greatest kidnapping once again. We're a bit too connected to our own." Let the scarf lax around his neck be witness and proof settled into one.

Answer: he CAN , but he gets super fucking embarrassed about it. It’s why he grew his hair out long, to cover both his eyes & his ears, because he’s a little insecure about both those parts of his face, though if you ask me they’re arguably some of his cuter features….
