The preliminary session for Goals 10 and 17
Goal 10 remained the focus of the preliminary discussion. Various organizations had the potential for coalition based on the mutual acknowledgement of the importance for universal education to mitigate inequality.
The Bank holds strong on their proposal to include a measure of good governance in the indicator, perhaps in tandem with an educational measurement. We did not want to forfeit our values in this matter as we have seen the way corrupt governments perpetuate inequality and make social mobility nearly impossible for citizens across the continent.
Our proposed indicator was as follows:
Percentage of growth in government expenditure on funding social programs, investment in private industry (employment programs) and provision of education disaggregated by age, sex and region.
