Gracie kept her head down as she weaved through the crowd, trying not to draw any attention to herself. The unfamiliar streets were making her anxious, and she was sure it was showing In her worry over her environment and keeping invisible, she was unaware of the person she was about to run into and how that collision would impact her.
She felt herself smack into someone before stumbling backward, almost falling over. “Oh my, I, um, I’m so so-sorry. I should’ve been looking whe-,” Gracie cut herself off when she saw the stranger’s face. Or were they a stranger at all?
The word echoed through her mind until snippets of memories played through. A prank gone wrong and the coma it resulted in. “-and Harriet, you could lose your green card.” Friends dying off like flies. “Maybe I’m next. I’ll work on being worried.” Blood. So much blood as she could practically feel the life leaving her, even now.
Snapping back into reality, her eyes widened in fear as she looked at the man in front of her. Gracie squeaked out another apology, gathering up her dropped belongings and hoping that Kenneth didn’t remember her as well.
