The SNP promise decades of austerity..? Yer Not On!
Its like the story of Goldilocks and the three bears. First the porridge was too hot - in 2014 we are all going to be so rich as an iScotland was “the richest nation on earth” (according to then SNP leader Salmond). Now, seeing that such an awful and obvious lie failed, we are being sold “it will take 25 years to to catch up with comparable small countries following separation”!
Painting the porridge as too cold; brave or foolhardy? I guess the polls will confirm. But given that Sturgeon is thrashing as hard as she can to find clear blue water between her and her ‘Growth Commission’ (the report that made such a gloomy forecast) the plan starting too look as unwanted as 2 skunks fucking in the baby’s room!
Sturgeon is even going so far as to say her party has to ‘look at the report’s proposals, and debate them before commenting’. As if somehow this wasn’t her own report, drawn up on her instructions and including an approach that she outlined and had already seen and approved off before it was published. That concept - that only now will the SNP be able to consider the report its contests - is as ‘not on’ as the conclusions of the phony (and ironically named) Growth Commission itself.
So if 25 years of SNP austerity (and if you take Singapore out of the cherry picked list of ‘equivalent’ small countries - the number rises to more like 75 years of austerity. Even more ‘Not ON..!)is ‘Not On’, then what IS going on!
The numbers are not even meant to add up!
So was this plan - the Grown Commission report’s plan - ever intended to be ‘the answer’? Or was it just a huge distraction enabling the SNP to litter Scottish life with yet more separatist garbage. Phony facts & figures. Phony reports & statistics. Phony experts and sources. All designed to muddy the waters and obscure the reality that there is no economic case for separatism and no majority for it (regardless of the economic case).
Because if that truth remains then the SNP need to find something else to do. But the SNP have nothing else to do, nothing else to offer (and they want nothing else) So, having failed to persuade the Scots of the case for separation, the SNP may just want to eventually persuade everyone else that this constant moaning and trouble-making is simply not worth it. Then the push for separatism will come from the rest of the UK.
So there is no plan for ‘Indyref2′ right now (they’d lose that). There is simply a plan to act like there is a demand for indyref2 - and for indyref3 and 4, etc., etc. So none of the details of any individual plan actually have to add up.
There were no riches under the ‘porridge too hot’ scenario, just like there is no accurate, costed and believable austerity period under the supposedly ‘porridge too cold’ scenario. The objective is simply to continue the agitation. Continued agitation as the only policy of the SNP government is the obvious (and only) conclusion that can be drawn from 10+ years of ineptitude. Continued agitation may change no Scots’ minds - but it might jut eventually piss off sufficient numbers of English, Welsh and Ulster folks...
Then, perhaps, at that time, on some future date, the porridge will be ‘just right’ and the UK will break up. They only have to get that answer once, after all, unlike the other side!
So meantime - if the SNP keep any hands on power - they will do their best to engineer that friction, to cause those constitutional crises, to undermine consumer confidence, employment prospects, provision of services and every aspect of Scottish civic life. Its in their interests. Indeed its fundamental to their approach - keep agitating, prevent progress.
On the way to their eventual ‘just right’ bowl of porridge - whether they say so or not, the SNP’s mission is to have year after year of misery imposed on Scots and Scotland. Anything else is counter-productive to their ultimate aim and must not be allowed.
Talk about ‘talking Scotland down’ - decades of Scotland in distress that IS the SNP plan. And yer not on!
