After four days of hiking, laughing and storytelling, it was time to say goodbye. I was solo once again as I continued my backpacking journey around India. While at a hostel in Udaipur, I met a famous Indian actor: Kunal K Kapoor. He was also going through a breakup, so we instantly connected. Plus, he was charming, funny, charismatic, and free-spirited! We had such an epic time that we ended up traveling together for two weeks!
We explored the Taj Mahal, Jaipur, Rajasthan, Udaipur, Pushkar (famous for camel racing), Agra, and Varanasi. Everywhere we went, fans asked for his autograph and a photo with him. Sometimes they asked for mine too. It was adorable and I gladly accepted. I would tell them “I’m just a flight attendant but sure! Stay in school. Follow your dreams.” By the end of my 2-month trip, Kunal and I were best friends. I even visited him on the TV set in Mumbai. Eleven years later, we still keep in touch.
In the end, I got over the breakup, met lifelong friends, and created lifelong memories. If I had to pick a favorite country, it would be India. Volunteering enhanced my travels and made me a better, stronger, and more spiritual person.
Special THANK YOU to the Nomadic Network for publishing it (created by @nomadicmatt and directed by @erica.virvo) and @kunalkarankapoor for joining me on the adventure of a lifetime! P.S. I highly recommend following all 3 of these legendary humans! 🌍✈❤ Tasha Cotti

He spoke about how it was like shooting for Remix and his fond memory. He said, "It was like college because all of us were kids and all of us were together whether we are shooting or not. After pack up we would hold up at someone's place and it never felt like work. I remember by first scene ever and I took like 17 takes and Karan Wahi was with me in the scene. And I remember telling Karan, 'Wahi, main girne wall hu' and I held his tie and collapsed. I blacked out. The next thing I know is people were running around, rubbing my hands and feet. Somebody is offering me Nimbu Pani and I had completely blacked out, I was like gone. That was my first shot. That was the pressure of acting, there was heat and we were wearing those uniforms. We didn't had AC on set and everything just came together and I blacked out. "

Dysfunctional dramas are always binge-worthy: Kunal Karan Kapoor
It’s not the best of times to watch a family murder-mystery confined to a single household.
It’s not the best of times to watch a family murder-mystery confined to a single household. Still, the new Voot Select Original, The Raikar Case, serves up enough twists and a stellar cast to take your mind off the lockdown. Streaming since April 10, the 7-part whodunit centres on the Naik Raikars, an influential family in Goa. Affluent and close-knit, the family is headed by Yashwant (Atul Kulkarni) and his wife Sakshi (Ashvini Bhave). Their children are Mohit (Kunal Karan Kapoor) and Etasha (Parul Gulati). When Tarun — the youngest member and Yashwant’s nephew — is found dead on a beach, the entire family falls under suspicion. Almost everyone has something to hide, and old secrets come to the fore as the case is investigated by officer John Pereria (Neil Bhoopalam).
“The dysfunctional family drama makes for a binge-worthy experience,” says Kunal, who makes his digital debut with the show after a two-year hiatus from television. “I had been auditioning for a while and the format of The Raikar Case really clicked with me.” His character, Mohit, is a rich heir with a strained relationship with his family. “It was intriguing to play the part of an ignored, neglected and abused child,” the actor shares. “Compared to television, the web format gives you a lot more time and space to create interesting characters. It was certainly a first for me.”
The show opens with Mohit’s sister, Etasha, bearing the guilt of her cousin’s death. Turns out, Tarun had called her several times before the alleged incident — something that drives her to solve the case on her own. “It was a totally new space for me,” shares Parul, who has previously starred in the web-shows Haq Se and Selection Day. “The murder-mystery setup was taxing and emotionally draining. I had to shoot the maximum hours in that cramped atmosphere, much like the times we are living in,” she laughs. Along the way, Etasha teams up with officer John Pereria in her quest.
Neil, who is playing a cop for the first time, says he was drawn to the world of Goan law enforcement. “In most of my previous works (Shaitan, No One Killed Jessica), I was always the guy getting into trouble. So it was fun to play a character on the other side of the law.” The fun of a whodunnit, Neil adds, is in the gradual unravelling of seemingly innocuous characters. “It’s all about creating that Scooby-Doo moment where you go… ‘Oh! this person did it.’”

Kunal Karan Kapoor: On TV people don’t experiment, they bank on what works.
Kunal Karan Kapoor spoke on spending his lockdown days, his new web show The Raikar Case and also shared memories from Left Right Left sets.
Kunal Karan Kapoor who started his acting career with hit TV shows like Remix and Left Right Left is doing what everyone else is doing these days, “staying at home”. He recently went live from the Facebook page of The Indian Express to discuss with his fans, how he has been spending time amid the national lockdown following the coronavirus outbreak.
“I am helping out in cooking and other household chores. Also, I am catching up on reading books, playing games on the play station and watching a lot of content. One thing I am avoiding is watching the news. What is happening continuously is you want to watch the news and check the updates, but now I am trying to stay away from the news as much as I can,” Kunal shared.
The actor also suggested people watch his latest web series The Raikar Case, a murder-mystery and shared his experience of working in it. Kunal said, “It was amazing to share the screen with so many talented actors like Atul Kulkarni, Ashvini Bhave and Neil Bhoopalam. We were in Goa for some time for the shoot where we would shoot for the entire day and then party till late. We took each other to our favourite restaurants and enjoyed our meals together. So, it was wonderful to have great co-actors.”
Kunal mentioned how he was a bit confused when he first read the script of The Raikar Case but his impetus to work on the web series was his chance of having to share the screen with senior actors, Atul Kulkarni and Ashvini Bhave.
The Remix actor shared, “Having them around on the set, to bounce of lines with Mr Kulkarni and Ashvini ma’am was just like a dream come true. Though I was nervous to be working with them but I believe great things come out of nervousness. Atul sir is very precise in whatever he does, he is an education in himself. Ashvini ma’am was like a mother on set. She always wanted to know if everyone’s alright and everyone’s taken care of. So these are two different personalities and I meshed between them. It was amazing.”
Karan has worked in TV shows like Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha, Maayka, Doli Armaanon Ki and Woh Apna Sa among others. His first web series The Raikar Case has made him realise that the web platform gives artists “more freedom in terms of creativity and more time to prepare”.
On being asked about his thoughts on television being called regressive, he replied, “There are people who don’t want to take risks, and they really want to bank on what works because there is commerce involved. But once in a while, somebody comes along, takes a risk and makes something new. If it works, it does wonders for everyone.”
Lastly, Kunal shared how it would be wonderful if Left Right Left makes a comeback on television. Recalling his experience of working on the show, he said it was his “third college”.
“Left Right Left was like a third college for me. First was the college, the second was Remix and third Left Right Left. We had a fantastic director who would give us freedom. He used to ask us to show ‘what, you guys want to do?’ He would see what we’re doing in a scene and then would place his camera according to us, which was such a welcome change. It spoiled a lot of us because a lot of directors don’t work like that. This is what I take back from Left Right Left because it has taught me to experiment, to improvise and to do something innate and not be restricted,” Kunal said.
