the rooftop should have provided some much needed fresh air , but cherry still felt both the humiliation and shame rush through her from what had transpired earlier. there was a reason why she hated joining her parents at the dinners they'd spent months preparing for. she was always used as a prop , something to talk over instead of to , and cherry was expected to just take it. after all , she was the degenerate disappointment that defied her parents and now was so lost she didn't know what to do with her life. cherry would've preferred to be forgotten. especially now. it had been awful to see carsten appear next to her father and not be able to reach out. but the moment her father opened his mouth it had turned into a nightmare. every mention of cherry had her shrink deeper into herself , avoiding carsten's gaze with every fibre of her being. she'd eventually managed to get away and pushed through the crowd until she finally felt the silence of the evening air embrace her. she wouldn't cry. she wouldn't. crying wouldn't her any good. she'd just stay out here until it was time to go home and carsten would hopefully forget this ever happened. @st4nheight
