Matthew stood in the hallway passing back and forth. It had only been less than twenty-four hours since he and Kieran had started dating, but he knew it had to be him to tell James the news. Biting a hangnail on his thumb, he weighed the pros and cons of not telling James before finally deciding only hell could come from that. Clearing his throat, he finally knocked and hoped Dominic wouldn’t answer. 

“James, I need to tell you something.”

The door clicked open after just around three minutes, and Lucas peeked his head into the laundry room. Once he saw that she was still completely fine, as he expected, he offered her a big grin.

“Told you I knew a trick or two,” he laughed, stepping in but taking off a single shoe to leave in the door, just in case it locked again after closing. Lucas slipped the small mystery object he’d used on the lock back into his pocket as he stepped forward. “Need help carrying your clothes back to your room, or did you just start the wash?”
