It had been a very productive albeit a very late night for Laila as she'd found new inspiration from one of the books she'd been reading and so she'd been hard at work planning out different ideas for her clients. That was precisely why she'd forced herself out of bed this morning and out for coffee. Because if she'd stayed home and had her normal mug of chai, she absolutely would not be at all productive for the rest of the day.
She'd just picked up her drink from the counter when she heard a name she hadn't heard in a long time. Hasad. It wasn't an uncommon name but it also wasn't incredibly common either and hearing it in the same place she'd known he'd moved to had to be a sign--right?
Hesitantly she turned around and when her eyes fell on the man she'd known a lifetime ago, she found herself frozen in her place. She hadn't prepared for this even if she'd known it was a possibility. Instead as she stared at him she couldn't help the flood of memories that overtook her until she made the conscious effort to move towards him.
"Um--Hasad, hi?" It had been years since they'd last seen each other and yet Laila couldn't pretend to not have seen him--her heart just wouldn't allow it.
