@safetypinned encountered Lilith: THE STAR: A lake under a blanket of stars
The rhythm of the city is flickering streetlights and discordant sirens. The red and blue lights a strobe. In the distance the dull thud of a fist connecting with the cheek of a friend. A heavy baseline. Closer, it's heeled boot crushing broken glass. The melody. Laughter turns to screams and tear become ecstatic rage. Something akin to lyrics. Sepia-hued smog like a smoke machine.
The crescendo is a body hitting the pavement as Lilith stares at the stars reflected in the lake.
She does not look up.
A new song. Heavy tread on asphalt and concrete. Gives way to the soft cushioning of grass. Lilith makes a bet with herself as she turns, will he look at the stars in the lake, or the sky she has cleared? She thinks Samuel is the kind to look up. Ever she challenges him, tries to turn his head. To see the water he would have to look through her, through a form more smoke than woman in this moment. She wonders which he sees.
"Lucifer left hours ago." The demoness' voice hums a tune more bitter than she'd like. Gaze drops like a beat to the body at her feet. Striking resemblance to the man before her though marred by the telltale signs of an archangel's occupation. Lilith had been doing it a kindness against her nature, in the end, when she'd ended its suffering. "Congratulations, you've won the consolation prize."
