If there was one thing she’d come to pick up on pretty quick upon arriving here, it was that she was hardly the only one with some special tricks up her sleeve. Of course, Ava had been rather careful to keep her own powers very well hidden. Not only was she unsure if the halo would attract any Tarasks while in this city or not, but she honestly has no desire to have to try and explain herself if anyone saw.

Granted, no one had ever claimed she wasn’t a giant hypocrite at times, so as she managed to get her eyes to narrow down from how wide they originally were, she approached the boy and said, “So...does that happen often? Because I don’t recall anything like that when you finally got your Snickers last we met.”

“STARTED HOSING DOWN OUR DELIVERY RAMP LIKE MY BOSS ASKED,” Ava replied matching tone. The fact the woman -who looked remarkably like her coworker Hayley- had gone down rather hard initially made Ava think she’s somehow slipped on the water, but once the tail registered that theory went out the window. Reaching over to close the tap, she dropped the water hose and made her way closer. “Uh...what do? How fix?”

There were days it honestly felt like she was just learning how to walk again, and it had zero to do with the halo glitching on her, and everything to do with her habit of rushing absolutely everywhere. Case in point, she was running to the corner store -for no reason; there was no need to rush- when she tripped over her own feet and knocked into someone else. Immediately she heard the sound of items hitting the floor and without even thinking, she bent down to start helping pick them up. “I’m so sorry,” she managed, “I’m normally much more aware of where I’m going...or, well, I’m at least a little more aware.”

Ava had zero doubt in her mind that out of the two of them, she herself was the ‘bad’ co-worker. In her defense, however, it wasn’t like she did things on purpose. She had, after all, only been a fully autonomous person for a few months. At least she’d been able to keep the halo in check and from causing some disaster. Crossing over to Hayley, she grinned and asked, “Would be too on the nose if I played Closing Time while we closed?”

“Oh it’s no problem at all,” Ava replied. “I’m not exactly an expert on the city, but I’ve definitely mastered the art of using google maps. As long as you have a destination, it’ll can get you pretty much anywhere in the city.”

It could not possibly be considered normal to have yourself be grabbed and dragged about at random points in time, without the proper prior consent. And yet, here she was having a stranger take her hand and lead her away and she found herself following. Granted, a large chunk of that was the fact that she didn’t want any adverse reaction to the gesture suddenly causing the halo to harm the other...yet. “So uh, exactly where are we going? I don’t have as much practice with my feet as you might think, and it usually helps to know a destination...”

Ava offered a sympathetic look at him. “For what it’s worth, it’s easy to recognize the look on someone else when you’ve gotten used to seeing something similar in the mirror,” she offered.
