Interactive Objects
As a development from the GIF animations, I created early in the project, I wanted to explore animating objects but this time physically in the studio.
Animated Sculptures
Originally I had intention of creating the sculptures on some kind of turntable which the audience could rotate themselves somehow, but I found a number of cabinet draw brackets, so I thought I could use these to create some motion with the an object.

So I experimented with fixing the brackets and an object to the wall, in this caser a vacuum.
I attached the top end of the vacuum using string and screw the bottom directly to the bracket. At this stage it is not professional finished, but more of just seeing if it was possible and would need refining.
Some problems with this I've experience is the bottom of the vacuum does scrap along the walls the weight of the vacuum does case the brackets to bend when slide them across, this does make it rather clunky and a bit unstable
The movement is from side to side, it isn't to very elaborate and could be quite mundane or not exciting or stimulating, however the movement of objects isn't that important, but rather the interaction with object. I want to create a kind of intimate moment with the viewer and the object, recreate an interaction with the abandoned object.
I was also thinjing about whether making this interaction a reaction, a reaction from the audience which would case the object to move or do some action. Though I suppose this takes away from that intimacy I was looking for.
Movement I find for me shows progression and time, and with the contrast with when the object is still, show end of time or life, which ties in life the life of the object, from being used and thrown away.
Also I'm not keen that the vacuum has a feeling of a mounted animal head on the wall, though I suppose this does give the object animalistic qualities and potentially adds that emotion of something that has died/end of it life.
