Finding LED’s
There are so many different options. I think I will have to talk to Jacques about what will be the best...

Ali Carr-Chellman: Gaming to re-engage boys in learning
“Most of the educational games that are out there today are really flashcards. They're glorified drill and practice. They don't have the depth, the rich narrative that really engaging video games have, that the boys are really interested in. So we need to design better games.”
- Ali Carr-Chellman
I totally agree with this!
Timeline and Responsibilities
Interaction DesignThis morning we had a meeting with some of the design team for this project. We have developed a timeline that integrates well with what the BCT timetable for this semester.
Next week is the end of this first sprint period where we have to demo something as part of this paper. Next Monday we have another meeting with the rest of the interactive playground team where we will present the finalised interaction design and component mounting solution. This is a pretty tight time frame and so Reuben, Braeden and I have taken over from Jacques ( j-foottit-creativetech) the digital simulation to free him up to focus on the other planning aspects of this project. This way the digital simulation we develop can be shown at be shown for both demos.
Just in our design team there are many aspects to work on Reuben, Braeden and I have decided to focus on Interaction Design and LED illumination of the cubes. These are areas we are familiar with and are highly interested in. We will still be involved in other aspects of the work, we just don’t want to over-commit ourselves at this stage. In saying that, the other areas I am interested in are Positional Tracking, Power, Communication, and Visual Design.
Towards the end of this project, we have planned a practical test which coincides perfectly with our end of year open studio. This will be a great chance for us to see how an audience interacts and responds to the system we have built. Something we have to consider is the location the we set up our test due to the limited space in the studio and the large scale of our outcome.
While researching inflatable structures for a concept I have related to an interactive playground project, I came across this inflatable sculptural piece. I think there is some great potential for these kind of structures for temporary moveable structures, particularly when looking at illumination.
